Bi-directional Quick Shift System
The Bi-directional Quick Shift System lets riders upshift without closing the throttle and downshift without blipping it, eliminating the need for the clutch once moving. It momentarily cuts power during acceleration to unload the gearbox for smooth, uninterrupted upshifts, and briefly opens the throttle on deceleration to match engine speed for seamless downshifts.
Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)
SDMS offers three throttle modes:
A for sharp, sporty response;
B for smoother, versatile power; and
C for the softest, most comfortable delivery in poor conditions or relaxed riding.
Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS)
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) is a suite of advanced electronic aids that let riders tailor settings to their preferences or conditions, boosting confidence and helping them focus on enjoying the ride.
Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS)
STCS helps the rider maintain control in varying conditions, including bad weather. It offers three modes plus an off setting, with higher modes delivering quicker, more proactive intervention to limit wheel spin.

Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)
SDMS offers three throttle modes tailored to different riding styles and conditions. Mode A gives the sharpest response and strongest acceleration for sporty riding. Mode B provides the same peak power but with smoother, more linear delivery for everyday commuting or touring. Mode C softens throttle response and torque for relaxed riding, poor weather, long journeys, or carrying a passenger.
Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS)
The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) is a collection of advanced electronic rider assist systems, which allow the rider to choose the settings for each system to best suit their preference or to suit the conditions. SIRS helps enhance an already exciting riding experience that inspires confidence and frees riders to concentrate on enjoying the ride.
Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS)
STCS improves control in varying conditions, including bad weather, and boosts rider confidence. It offers three selectable modes plus an off setting, with higher modes providing quicker, more proactive wheel‑spin control.
STRONG STOPPING POWER
Radially-mounted front brake calipers biting 310mm floating discs provide strong stopping power and predictable braking performance. The rear brake uses a 240mm disc and a single-piston pin-slide caliper.
CHASSIS GEOMETRY AND RIDING POSITION
The GSX-8R’s chassis uses a long wheelbase for stability, combined with agile, compact design for responsive handling. A forward‑leaning riding position balances weight front and rear for a plugged‑in, sporty feel while maintaining comfort. New aluminium handlebars support this posture, and the compact parallel‑twin engine allows the rider’s hips to sit further forward, improving weight shift and control in tight corners.
FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION
Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork - Big Piston) inverted front forks allows for the elimination of the cartridge on one side and makes it possible to increase the size of the piston. The structure not only reduces weight, but also features stable damping characteristics. The link-type mono-shock at the rear, with preload adjuster, is set up to contribute to straight-line stability and a smooth, controllable ride.
COMFORTABLE AND SPORTY RIDING
The rider’s seat is designed for sporty riding. Delivering support for the rider toward its rear edge, the seat is shaped to offer freedom of movement and is covered in a material that provides positive grip. Featuring a slim design, the smoothly rounded edges of the seat also make it easier for the rider to plant their feet on the ground when stopped.
